Track 2 from the 1992 Confession of Faith release
As i Hung
I Pray for Sleep
I’m twisting away
Like yesterday
I reached out my hand for her
And saw her hand on mine
And saw nothing but a ghost
Whose bitter-sweet lips
Tasted like wine
I saw the ghost from afar
Whose name I know not
Watching her eyes
Transfixed on me
Her mouth drawn and taut
I pray for sleep if only short
But I’m drawn close to her
I close my eyes to wish her gone
The ghost of mine in splendour
Help me I scream
To the world growing cold
As I reached up to grab the ghost
And found my own soul cold
I found it cold
